Rubber cowboys and Indians from East Germany

Rubber cowboys and Indians from East Germany. Starting in 1951, the very popular cycle of novels "The Sons of Great Bear" by Liselotte Welskopf-Henrich was published in East Germany. In the 1960s, DEFA adapted the book for the screen, starring Gojko Mitic. The struggle of Native Americans against white settlers was taken up by the toy industry. These playing figures were elaborately by homeworkers. Only one third of them were cowboys, which is why, of all figures, the "evil imperialists" were most in demand (Dresden Bundeswehr Military History Museum).
