The Porte des Allemands is named after the Teutonic Knights, hospitaller brothers of Notre Dame des Allemands, who founded a hospital nearby in the 13th century. It is the largest surviving building on the medieval ramparts and served both as a double door and a bridge over the river Seille.
The plastic monk from the unknown maker was purchased at the
Museum of La Cour d'Or.
