Sherman "funnies" tanks at D-Day

For D-Day Major-General Sir Percy Hobart devised several new types of tanks called "funnies". These models show a Sherman Crab tank that flailed the beach with chains to destroy mines, and a Crocodile flamethrower tank towing its fuel trailer.
The most remarkable was the DD (Duplex Drive) tank. Driven by a propeller linked to the engine. Shermans were launched into the sea and swam ashore wrapped in waterproof screens. Many sank.(The Imperial War Museum (London))
