Charlemagne puppet at the Musee de la Vie Wallonne (Liege, Belgium)
In the traditional Liege theatres/theaters, Emperor Charles the Great (Charlemagne) was a key figure surrounded by lords, knights and ladies. The presence of commoners looking like peasants and workers in the 19th century helped to spice up the shows.
