Visiting the La Vallette Underground Military Museum (Guernsey)

La Vallette Underground Military Museum houses various displays and militia collections from World War One, including the British army insignia and examples of trench art.

In 795 AD Viking longships began to raid various places in Ireland. At first they attacked the monasteries along the coast and later they raided inland. Here we can witness their first acquaintance with local Celts and druids.

Military dioramas - UK video from 1957 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

This British Pathe video shows miniature  dioramas , part of a collection of Mr Denny Stokes from London who makes them as a hobby. Main subject of Mr Stokes' dioramas is military history. He uses all sorts of material, wood, plastic, sponge, paper, cardboard etc. to depict the events from military history in greatest detail possible. You can see different examples of his dioramas, including Scotland after the '45 rebellion, the scaling of the Heights of Abraham at Quebec by General Wolfe and the East Yorkshires in 1759, a hunting scene from the time of Luis the 14th and the D-day landing at Colleville-Sur-Orne.

Battle of Berlin (Part 3)

By April 26, Soviet six armies of the 1st Belorussian Front (47th, 3rd and 5th shock, 8th Guards, 1st and 2nd Guards Tank Armies) and three armies of the 1st th Ukrainian Front (28th, 3rd and 4th Guards Tank) were participating in the Battle of Berlin. They included 464 thousand people, 1,500 tanks and self-propelled guns, 12,700 guns and mortars, 2,100 rocket launchers. Considering the experience of taking large cities, for the battles in the city, assault squads were created as part of rifle battalions or companies reinforced with tanks, artillery and sappers. The actions of the assault detachments, as a rule, were preceded by a short but powerful artillery preparation.

Märklin panzer with a haubitze

The Märklin company was founded in 1859 and is based at Göppingen in Baden-Württemberg (Germany). Although it originally specialised in doll house accessories, today it is best known for model railways and technical toys.In 30s, Märklin produced tinplate tanks and cannons (haubitze).
Today , these items are very collectible.

WW 1 memorial statues in Albert, Somme (France)

Albert was the main town behind the lines for the Allies on the 1916 Somme battlefields.Albert was severely  devastated during the war, and rebuilt afterwards.The Germans advanced into Albert during their Spring Offensive in 1918. Albert was retaken by the British  four months later, and three months after this the War was over.

Surrendering German "Kamarad" soldiers

"Kamerad" (comrade) is the word the German soldiers employ when offering to surrender to Allied troops during WW1 and WW2. At these photos you can see two German soldiers with upraised hands yelling "Kamerad." These "Kamerad" soldiers were produced by Durso (Belgium) since 1940 and became a symbol of the Liberation of Belgium from German occupation in 1944. We can also see that these soldiers were listed as the ""Kamarad" soldier" in the Durso 1940 catalog. So it was their official name given by Durso. During the German occupation, Michel Klimov (1905 - 2004), the Durso founder, was taken to the Gestapo of Liege for questioning and was ordered to cease production of the "Kamarad" soldiers. He was lucky to escape the German prosecution.
Here I also photographed some figures produced by another Belgian company - Triumf in the end of 40s (The German  soldier wearing a forage cap and the Red Army soldier in a overcoat).

Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, better known by his alias Lenin, was a Russian revolutionary, politician, and political theorist. He served as head of government of Soviet Russia from 1917 to 1924 and of the Soviet Union from 1922 to 1924. Lenin was born in Streletskaya Ulitsa, Simbirsk (Ulyanovsk) on 22 April 1870 and baptised six days later; as a child he was known as "Volodya", a diminutive of Vladimir.
