Sir Hugh Calveley (died 23 April 1394) was an English knight and commander, who took part in the Hundred Years' War, gaining fame during the War of the Breton Succession and the Castilian Civil War. He held various military posts in Brittany and Normandy.

Minenwerfer duel : Boches vs. Tommies

Minenwerfer ("mine launcher") is the German name for a class of short range mortars used extensively during the First World War by the Imperial German Army. The weapons were intended to be used by engineers to clear obstacles including bunkers and barbed wire, that longer range artillery would not be able to target accurately.

These composition Minewerfers were produced by Elastolin in 30s (Scale 7 cm).

World War I casualties ...

The total number of military and civilian casualties in World War I, was around 40 million. There were 20 million deaths and 21 million wounded. The total number of deaths includes 9.7 million military personnel and about 10 million civilians.

Unknown makers of composition soldiers:FRÖHA

The Hans Frömter's company - FRÖHA from Hilpoltstein can be shown almost exemplary for all others what factors had an impact on the  "mass figures". production As with almost all other companies, the start of production of mass figures - "mass soldiers"was in the 30s (1935). The year 1943 is generally considered the year in which it was came to a definitive turning point in the course of the war (including Stalingrad); it is but also the year in which the National Socialists banned toys production. After the collapse in 1945, soldiers were no longer in demand as mass figures. FRÖHA (Frömter's company name) changed on seven-centimeter tall nativity and animal figures as well as cowboy and Indian figures. When the Bundeswehr was founded in 1955, the company relied on the production of Bundeswehr mass soldiers and experienced a total flop. Soldiers as mass figures were not yet in demand! As 1963 - mainly from Far Eastern Asia - plastic figures, also soldiers, on a large scale flooded the market, the production of mass figures was finally stopped.

Christian X (Christian Carl Frederik Albert Alexander Vilhelm; 26 September 1870 – 20 April 1947) was King of Denmark from 1912 to 1947, and the only King of Iceland (where the name was officially Kristján X) between 1918 and 1944. (Lineol 30s).

Frederick the Great and his generals

This set of German cutout paper soldiers “Friedrich der Grosse und seine Generale” [ca. 1910] represents  color images of Frederick the Great of Germany and six of his generals. It includes images of Frederick the Great, his adjutant, General v. Zithen, Fieldmarshal Schwerin, Prince Leoopold von Anhalt-Dessau, a staff officer and staff-hussar. These railroad 8cm figures were produced by Japanese company Trico in 30s. As far as know, Trico exported its composition figures mainly to US and UK.

Gonio (Hendrix) Schwimmwagen VW 166

Gonio, model company from the Czech Republic, produced a large range of high quality 1:24 scale military vehicles in pressed tin. This Schwimmwagen VW 166 was produced by Gonio in 90s. These Elastolin Wehrmacht soldiers were made in 70s.
