Relief map of the Bayonne shipyards in 1805
This relief map of the Bayonne shipyards was inspired by the relief map of Les Invalides (Paris) and paintings of Joseph Vernet, and completed around 1825 by Patrick Guillou, the best worker in France and Antonio Alvarez.Scale 1/200.
Under the First Empire, the port of Bayonne experienced great development with the racing war.
Napoleon I visited it in 1808 and provided various arrangements.
Many trades groups participated in the construction of ships: carpenters, caulks, sailboats, pulleys, rowers, blacksmiths, painters ...
The relief map is presented at Basque Museum in Bayonne (France).
