Gasangriff ! Gas Attack !
One of the persisting features of WWI was the large-scale use of chemical weapons- gases. Although chemical warfare caused less than 1% of the total deaths in this war, the ‘psy-war’ or fear factor was intimidating. Hence, chemical weapons were subsequently absolutely prohibited by the Geneva Protocol of 1925.
WW1 German soldiers in gas masks were produced by Kienel (Germany) in 30s.
